What kind of news is posted to 'PicoList'?
PicoList is for small news about specific places - where you live, work or play. It's the practical stuff about things close at hand - about what's going on at the local school, shops opening up nearby, contractors working in your area, an evening show at a nearby restaurant, service announcements by local government.

Why would I want this?
There's a lot happening and a lot of resources close at hand, but close doesn't always mean easy to find. PicoList helps to make these resources visible in a timely way. Sometimes you may have to go miles to get what you want, or scour through the citywide telephone directory to find something you need - but if you don't have to, why bother?

Who sends to PicoList?

Won't I get a lot of mail?
It's easy to control the amount of email you receive from PicoList. By setting your personal options, you can block particular sources, restrict the size of the area you're interested in receiving news about, and suspend your PicoList subscription at any time.

Senders to PicoList know that you can block them, so they have a reason to avoid flooding you with email or sending you messages you don't want to receive.

All you have to do is log in and unsubscribe, and your email address will be deleted from the subscriber list. (There may be a time lag during which messages currently queued are delivered to you). You can also suspend messages for up to one month if, for example, you don't want to receive email from PicoList while you're on vacation.

Someone is sending me mail I don't want.
If you don't want to get mail from a particular source, you can block the source by clicking on the 'block this source' link at the end of the message. If you still get mail from this source, but at a different email address, or if you think the sender is violating the PicoList Terms of Use, report the message as abuse using the 'report as abuse' link at the end of the message.
