PicoList policy change

April 18, 2006

Up until now, PicoList messages have sent to subscribers from one of two list addresses:

  picolist-priority@picolist.org

for messages from a person or organization designated by you as a priority source, or

  picolist-general@picolist.org

for all other messages. However, this convention has created some confusion, as email replies to PicoList messages that are intended for the sender go to the list address by default and are not forwarded. Replies have required the use of a web form linked from the message, which most subscribers find awkward to use.

As of April 18, all PicoList messages will be sent from the sender's email address rather than a list address. The subject line of general messages will have '[PicoList]' as a prefix, as they do now, and messages from priority sources will be marked with an asterisk - so '[PicoList]*'.

Senders should be aware that PicoList has no ability to monitor or moderate replies sent directly from subscribers.
